Starting the week of October 1, 2023, Saint Joseph’s University Campus construction will change to a continuous 24/7 lane closure on City Ave, anticipated around six weeks.  Basically, one lane will be closed continuously and the other three lanes will be open at any given time.  It will be about a week a lane as construction moves across the roadway.

-Week One – Southbound Outer Lane Closed – Southbound Inner Lane and Both Northbound lanes always Open
-Week Two & Three – Southbound Inner Lane and Southbound Cardinal Ave Left Turn Lane Closed – Southbound Outer Lane and Both Northbound lanes always Open
-Week Four & Five – Northbound Inner Lane and Southbound Cardinal Ave Left Turn Lane Closed – Northbound Outer Lane and Both Southbound lanes always Open
-Week Six – Northbound Outer Lane Closed – Northbound Inner Lane and Both Southbound lanes always Open

There will be times when the City Ave Southbound left-hand turning lane onto Cardinal Ave will be closed, and detour signage will be in place directing vehicles to turn beforehand onto 54th Street.  At no time will Cardinal Ave be closed.  Vehicles heading Northbound on City Ave will be permitted to turn right onto Cardinal Ave, and likewise vehicles will be able to turn left (Southbound) and right (Northbound) onto City Ave from Cardinal Ave.  No other roads restrictions are planned (Raynham, 59th Street, Berwick, Lapsley).

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling.  For the latest construction alerts and traffic information, please reference the website that has been created for the project https://www.sju.edu/underpass
