Saint Joseph’s University plans to have a final decision on who its new president will be by Thanksgiving. The search, which will soon get underway, comes after university President Mark Reed announced his departure last week.

Just two weeks elapsed from the time Reed notified the board he was potentially leaving to the announcement of his departure.

The Philadelphia native initially declined to be part of Loyola University Chicago’s presidential search, but after receiving a call from the school in mid-April, Reed notified Saint Joseph’s board that his departure was a possibility, according to Jim Norris, chairman of the school’s board of trustees. From there, the process moved quickly, culminating in a note from Reed to the St. Joe’s community last Tuesday afternoon that he had taken the position as president at Loyola University Chicago.
