WYNNEWOOD, PA — Two bystanders became heroes on Wednesday morning when a car holding a mother and her one-year-old baby went up in flames after an accident.
Ryan Porto, of Havertown, and Rachel Atteberry, of Philadelphia, happened to be nearby when the accident occurred.
As the car went up in flames, the pair rushed toward the scene. Porto pulled the mother from the burning vehicle, while Atteberry grabbed the baby, first responders reported.
“These good Samaritans are the meaning of “HERO”!” Lower Merion police shared on their Facebook page.
“Teamwork by all involved,” Narberth Ambulance said in a statement. “Passerby’s can truly make a difference by getting involved.”
Both the mother and the baby are safe and are expected to make a full recovery from the incident.
