FOR IMMEDAITE RELEASE

September 5, 2023

Bala Cynwyd, PA – City Ave District has partnered with the Bala Avenue of the Arts, a new 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, to present the first-ever Bala Avenue Art Walk, to be held on Sunday, September 10th, 2023, from 1:00-4:00 at 215 Bala Ave. The primary goal of this event is to raise awareness for the renewed attempts to bring economic and creative vitality to Bala Village.

The Bala Ave Art Walk will feature artwork from over 15 local artists, all of which are for sale. In preparation for this event, local storefronts on Bala Avenue have been converted into “Pop-Up Galleries,” featuring much of this original work. During the event, 12 vendor and community tables will represent the artists, as well as community partners, including the Neighborhood Club of Bala Cynwyd, the Cynwyd Heritage Trail, Chabad of the Main Line, the Jewish Art Center, Lower Merion Historical Society, and City Ave District.

In executing this event, City Ave District has been proud to collaborate with the Bala Avenue of the Arts, an emerging non-profit whose board is composed of local civic leaders including representatives from Lower Merion Township Council, the Neighborhood Club of Bala Cynwyd, and City Ave District. According to their website, “Bala Avenue of the Arts (BAoA) is focused on creating a vibrant, thriving arts and culture destination on the Bala Avenue corridor… By engaging a broad range of community stakeholders, our hope is that together we can transform Bala Ave into a dynamic hub of artistic expression, leaving a lasting positive impact for generations to come.”

In addition to offering high quality art, this event will also feature free face painting, live music, and interactive activities.

Festivities will run along Bala Avenue from Montgomery Avenue to Cynwyd Avenue. Bala Avenue will not be closed for this event. Street parking will be available on Bala Avenue, Highland Avenue, Union Avenue, and Cynwyd Avenue. Lot parking will also be available at Cynwyd Station. The parking garage located at BMW will be closed. In the event of inclement weather, the event will move to the BMW parking garage.
