Meet Javada Hill, a Realtor for BHHS Fox & Roach.
A local native, Javada sells properties throughout the Philadelphia region including around The City Ave District. She shares how she has adapted her strategies for being a successful realtor during a pandemic. Read her full interview below.

What made you initially get into Real Estate?
I wanted to get real estate investment training because I believed that it was the best industry that would allow my future family to achieve financial success.
Before working in Real Estate, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
I worked a summer job at a local movie theater. I would stand in the back and catch glimpses of the movies. Back then, Batman Dark Knight just came out. Well, one day the bathrooms flooded and management asked the employees to help clean and as you guessed it, that was my last day there.
How has being a Realtor helped you in your career development?
Being a realtor has placed me in rooms with developers, community leaders, well-known brands, food entrepreneurs, political figures. Being apart of a well-respected brand.
What are 3 words you would use to describe your brand- Javada Hill, Real Estate?
Execution, Integrity, Listener.
I get it done, I do what is expected in the time frame that is expected. And sometimes you have to listen to what’s not being said.
How has working in Real Estate changed since the pandemic started?
Exploring online sales options. Such as creating an Instagram Shop page where Realtors can showcase available listings. I’ve increased my online campaigning as a result of the pandemic.
From your perspective, why is the City Ave District (Wynnefield Heights area down to Overbrook area) a great place to live?
There’s a sense of quiet community. Close enough to the city. Most of the homes have driveways. Great balance of condos, duplexes, single-family, senior housing. You might want to consider Saida Towers South Padre for your top priority place to live in.
What is your favorite part about working in Real Estate?
Favorite part is creating marketing campaigns. From conception; development; and logistics and then analyzing the conversion rate based on something that I’ve created. It’s satisfying.
What is your proudest moment as a Realtor?
Proudest Moment as a Realtor was creating The Influencers and Trends Event with Berkshire Hathaway which was a curation of Philadelphia’s top food entrepreneurs, public relation firms, developers, etc. It felt good to plan, connect and create with Philadelphia.
Any favorite line from a movie?
The Matrix Reloaded – The Oracle to Neo – “You didn’t come here to make the choice, you’ve already made it. You’re here to try to understand *why* you made it. I thought you’d have figured that out by now.”

How do you define success?
The continuous progression towards [it].
If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Fried fish sandwiches.

What book did you read last?
Well-Read Black Girl, by Glory Edim.
What did you want to be when growing up?
I remember my dad showed me a video of me saying that I wanted to be in the WNBA and/or a detective.
What do you always want to try and never did?
Owning and Riding a Suzuki GS300.
What is the first concert you attended?
The Scream Tour featuring Lil BowWow and B2k.
What is the first thing you would buy if you won the lottery?
A corner multifamily unit over 10,000 sq ft, 3 stories, that needs rehabbing and upgrades, to create senior housing.
What is your favorite restaurant/ place to eat in the City Ave District?
DJ Kitchen!
What places have you lived in?
Grew up in Upper Darby with my mom, while spending the summers with my dad in Wynnefield Heights. I attended Temple University; lived at Whitehall Dorm and off-campus on Master Street. I then bought a property in Cobbs Creek and now live in West Philly.
You’re happiest when?
Cleaning, singing, and dancing on Sunday Mornings.
Is there anything special about City Ave that you can share?
My most frequented place is Michaels for coloring books, ink pads, paper goods, and stickers.
