This month, meet T.J. Alexander,  Senior Producer of Digital Content at 6abc. What does that mean? He spends most of his time working on their social media properties. T.J. has always lived in the area, and started at 6abc as an intern. He came to the station in 2004 and jokes that they couldn’t get rid of him!


What did you do before working at 6abc?  As a teenager I was a golf caddy and worked at a family fun center, then in college I worked in sheet metal making duct work and was a waiter at IHOP. All of these jobs shaped my work ethic and gave me a deep appreciation for the environment at 6abc.

What has been your favorite project at work?   It was when the Pope came to town. We reached out to the local university journalism/communications departments and worked with a dozen student journalists as extra reporting sources on the ground. The fruits of their labor really rounded out and contributed to our coverage.

Do you recall any embarrassing moment at work? In my first year here I spilled my boss’s tea ALL OVER her desk. Talk about making a good impression!

What is your favorite travel spot? Costa Rica

People would be surprised if they knew: I love to garden.

What is the first concert you attended? G Love and Special Sauce at The Electric Factory.

What is your favorite thing to do in the area? I love to run on Forbidden Drive.

What’s your philosophy of life? Go with the flow. If you think everything will fall into place it eventually will.

 

Is there anything that stands out to you about City Ave? I love the effort to bring the community together and how the area has improved aesthetically in my decade plus working here, and how everything is being brought together.
